Python Machine Learning Pipeline Workshops for Autumn 2026

BUILD Lab is organizing Python workshops in August that aim to give an understanding and a practical ability to build complete machine learning workflows in Jupyter Notebooks.

The 2 workshops go through some foundational topics, such as getting familiar with Jupyter Notebook environment, handling datasets and training them with various machine learning models.

Below you can find the ILOs and the time for each of the workshops.

Workshop #1

August 19th 13:00 - 17:00

- Navigate the interface, run cells, use keyboard shortcuts, manage kernels, and structure a reproducible notebook workflow.
- Load, inspect, clean, filter, transform, and merge datasets using pandas; handle missing values and reshape data frames.
- Create and customize charts (histograms, scatter, bar, heatmaps) with Matplotlib and Seaborn; interpret distributions and correlations.

Workshop #2

August 20th 13:00 - 17:00

Encode categorical variables, scale features, split data into train/test sets, and build a clean scikit-learn preprocessing pipeline.
Train and tune classification (supervised and unsupervised) and regression models (linear, tree-based, ensemble); understand hyperparameters and cross-validation.
Interpret metrics, visualize results with confusion matrices and residual plots, and iterate on model performance.
