There are many ways on how an external partner, or an organization can collaborate with the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU). For example: being a case partner for a course, providing a thesis topic, or providing access to data.
The BUILD Lab within ITU helps initiate and maintain the relationship between the parties. By getting in touch, you can acquire the list of different types of courses that require students to work with a case company for their project.
Qualitative refers to the type of research that is focused on generating and analyzing fieldwork data
through conducted interviews and observations on everyday processes.
As an example, some of the courses focus on using the data to define the AS-IS model of a specific process. The goal can then be
creating a TO-BE model and defining the steps that need to be taken to reach it.
Quantitative refers to working with numeric and measurable data – analyzing and combining various
datasets to find value within it through various ML methods and AI tools. Depending on the type of
data, certain performance measurements can be measured, and the significance of the data
patterns can be tested.
Mixed refers to the application of both research methodologies, which could mean generating
fieldwork data and transforming it into a measurable and result driven analysis, or have qualitative
research be conducted after collecting and interpreting certain measures.
The goal of a student’s project is to answer the Research Question (RQ) or achieve a certain
objective. Under each course an objective or a RQ as an example is included to showcase what is
relevant for each course. The goal for the collaboration is for the student to have a research environment or access to resources they would
not have by default while the partner would be able to benefit from the learnings the research
