Or maybe you’d like a second opinion before you submit for your exam? We welcome all types of data visualizations\, both qualitative and quantitative. The top 5 winning visualizations will be proudly displayed on BUILD lab’s website and ITU screens\, celebrating your talent and creativity.  \nIn addition\, the top 3 teams or individuals will receive exclusive goodies and greater prizes based on their placement (including giftcards)! So\, whether you’re competing solo or as a group\, there’s plenty of incentive to participate!  \n\nConditions: \n\n\n\nAll data visualizations are welcome that are made by YOU! \nYou can either submit as an individual or as a group. \nYou can submit multiple visualizations if they are from the same project\, otherwise\, you have to make separate submissions. \nYou can submit your visualizations containing animations if they serve a purpose. \nYou can submit your visualizations just to receive feedback from the BUILD lab if you want to. \n\n\n\nHowever\, \n\n\n\nThe visualization must be made in either Summer 2024\, Autumn 2024 or Spring 2025 semesters.\nThe visualization must be made by YOU for your own project/thesis (there are no restrictions as to what methods/tools you used).\nYou have to describe your visualization in 100 words or less (if possible).\n\n\n\nSubmit yours here: https://forms.office.com/e/F3p2gJKqEz (ITU login required) \nYou will be graded on the visual design as well as how you were able to transfer your insights into a visualization form. If you are still unsure\, contact build@itu.dk for clarifications. \n\nImpress our BUILD lab judges with your innovative and informative projects by the June 13th 23:59. Don’t miss out on this fantastic opportunity to exhibit your talents\, have fun\, and win exciting rewards. Submit your entries now and may the best visualization win!  \nPrevious year winners \nThrilled to watch your graphs “deciding” on new paths 😊  \nVisualization inspired by Minna Sundberg’s illustration

SUMMARY:Data Visualization Competition 2023 Results
DESCRIPTION:1st Place (36 out 50 points)\n \nBoligsiden Apartments Sydhavn\nAuthor: Szymon Adam Galecki \nThe figure showcases apartments for rent\, available at boligsiden.dk. It was one of the figures that showed company’s strategy\, having multiple flats in recently finished buildings. Points represent buildings in location given by geographical coordinates. If there are more than two apartments at the same location\, a numerical label informs about it. \nColour scheme informs about rental price for square meter\, in a month timeframe. Since\, buildings were finished at very similar time\, their standard should be similar. Colours will tell us where to look for good deals. Rent prices for square meter\, for apartments in the same location have been averaged. \n\n2nd Place (34 out of 50 points) \n \nBetter European Download Speeds\nAuthors: Altea Fogh\, Jakob Cordua Thibodeau \nThe representation depicts the increase in internet download speeds across Europe. This “Wi-fi” plot is a stacked gauge plot\, with each bar representing a year\, the angle representing internet download speed and the strikes representing European countries. \nThe shades of blue are variations of the hyperlink blue. the orange is used to contrast and highlight the European average (colour-blind friendly). The bottom dot emphasises the main point of the visualisation\, that European download speeds are increasing. The angled axis makes year to year comparisons easy\, and emphasises the spread between the fastest and slowest country. \n\n3rd Place (33 out of 50 points) \n \nWorlds Apart – Amsterdam’s ethnical/income distribution and air pollution\nAuthors: Gusts Gustavs Grinbergs\, David Peter Süle \nThis visualizations shows an interesting correlation between the wealth distribution in Amsterdam with the % of people with non-western backgrounds. \nThe blueish 3D plot depicts % of people with a non-western background\, while the orange one depicts median income scattered around all of Amsterdam. The 3 white lines in the 3D visual depict different neighborhoods (while appearing as gray dots in the two plots) and can be used as a point of reference. \nThe two pollution plots balance the top two plots by showing no difference in the amount of pollution between the less and more fortunate areas. This combination of plots tries to provide a balanced picture of the socioeconomic state of Amsterdam. \n\nRunner-up (31 out of 50 points) \n \nVarious interactive visualizations of Stardew Valley \nAuthors: Nikolette Zoe Pedersen\, Michal Rynowiecky\, Regitze Julie Synedal   \nThe are 3 interactive data visualizations about the video game Stardew Valley. The visualizations are combined in one themed interface\, which allows for quick overviews to the players. \nThe main demonstrated visualization shows profit of crops per season\, which one would return the most amount of profit based on the investment. Another visualization would showcase the likes and dislikes of a romantic interest\, and one that demonstrates the damage caused by a sword. \nAs the interface is set to be interactive\, the main utility for the players comes from it. \n\nRunner-up (30 out 50 points) \n \nThe color of wallets with in NFT markets\nAuthor: Alessia Galdeman \nWithin the thriving NFT ecosystem\, users engage across various markets\, but where do their primary spending and gains occur? \nThe visualization investigates user activity across two prominent markets: OpenSea (represented in blue) and Cryptokitties (represented in pink). \nIts goal is to unveil the dominant market for income and outcome\, effectively revealing the color of their wallets. Each brick on the scale represents 200 users\, with the intensity of its color correlating to the proportion of income or outcome they gain or spend in the corresponding market.
